So much for all those great high paying union manufacturing jobs in Germany. So Amerika’s slaves are going to manufacture for Germany’s financial elite now? Pete’s population density disparity theory is going to have a tough time explaining this one.

“Falling Dollar pushes manufacturing out of Europe”

    • Pete Murphy says:

A couple of examples of manufacturing moving from Germany to the U.S. doesn’t change the fact that, in 2008, the U.S. had a trade deficit in manufactured goods of $41 billion with Germany. And we still import 2-1/2 times as many vehicles and parts from Germany as they import from us.

Sure, the falling dollar has made it tougher on them, but they’ll adjust – mark my word. Since the 1970s, the dollar has fallen by over 300% vs. the yen. Yet, instead of falling, our trade deficit with Japan exploded. When the yuan appreciated by 20% two years ago, our trade deficit with China actually worsened instead of improving.

Sorry, Randy, the overwhelming preponderance of evidence supports the role of population disparity in driving trade imbalances.

  2. ClydeB says:

It is a bitter pill to swallow, but at least some US workers will have jobs.
